The Elected
walk up and down
and back and forth
through halls, rooms, rotundas,
dressed in tailored suits and ties
and skirts and scarves
and shirts with cuffs and buttons
and their highly polished shoes
click importantly on marble floors,
walking, walking
with great sense of purpose
accompanied by staffers,
supplicants and members
of the media whom they rarely
deign to answer for they must rush
to hearings, meetings,
conference calls and therefore
can't be bothered with all
this human neediness.

Makes me think of the white house, but perhaps it encompasses politicians in general?

Oh, you've done an excellent job of capturing the puffed-up atmosphere and self-importance around these antiquated systems of political structure masquerading as democratic representation. Bravo.

Thanks Mark,
Our illustrious attorney general Barr ordered troops to clear peaceful protestors from in front of the White House using tear gas, rubber bullets, flash bangs, paramilitary troops of some sort and mounted police so Trump could walk across the street to stand in front of a church (he never attends) and hold up a Bible (he doesn't read) for a brief moment so he could be photographed. When a reporter later stood in the halls of congress trying to ask republican senators what they thought of that stunt, they all had places to go and things to do. That was the prompt for this write. I am sorry there is no clip of all 17 in succession it would be laughable if it wasn't so deadly serious

A belated thank you to poet-e for the read and comment, I think the answer to your question was covered in my reply to Mark.
And thank you Dave for the read. I had to google VEEP--I only subscribe to netflix and amazon. Looks interesting though.
