 Etheree

Music

Songs
of love
and of pain,
of gain and loss.
From the cross of hope
blues verse and refrain to
rein in passion's price of blood
bled from gashed heart on the altar
of give and take, seeking forgiveness
for wounded soul through melodic lyrics.

I'll be away for a couple of days so I'll post tomorrow's entry now.

 Acrostic

WISDOM

When will we learn to discern an
Ill wind versus an enlightening breeze
So that the baneful is grasped then quickly
Discarded while the breathed beneficial
Offerings are inhaled deep to fuel the
March up the long trail towards wisdom

"Acrostic"

Never The Same

Surely the tide advances
Usurps the stillness of the bay
Revives the brackish waters
Places gifts over the mud flats
Reels in the languishing weeds
Invites the gulls to feast
Sing their gullet songs
Erase the quiet at ebb tide

Cinquain

I Wonder
Again
She touches him
He wakes out of the dream
Wordless, she hovers, eyes glowing
Rapture

"Double Etheree"

On The Gaspe Peninsular

land
of my
ancestors
by the river
baptized st laurent
far fields of golden waves
chest high in fierce august sun
i walk a rutted cartwheel path
lost in an aimless contemplation
of blue waters and blue sky in a breeze

a gate left open to a yellow sea
invites a step across the unmarked
liminal breach     no crows in sight
just van gogh's wheat field without
the cypresses     no prose
to word the rapture
and poetry
on that day
silent
still

Marcel - you paint with words beautifully.  "Never The Same" takes me to my childhood haunts.

"The Gaspé Peninsula" is hauntingly vivid.  I can't believe I've never been there, "land of my ancestors".......

As a poetry newbie this Decathlon challenge been and continues to be a fun exercise.  I'm being exposed to forms and structures I didn't know existed.  An interesting mental challenge, and I think it sometimes sparks some creativity.  Thanks, Tracy.

Here a couple of Triolets.  As my friend Dave often says when asked to describe the difference of two similar things, they are the same, only different.

Triolet #1

Only You

In all the world there's only you.
My heart takes flight when you're in sight.
Through all the years I always knew
in all the world there's only you.
Hot blood rushes greeting the view.
Each day races into moonlight.
In all the world there's only you.
My heart takes flight when you're in sight.

Triolet #2

Only You

My heart takes flight when you're in sight.
In all the world there's only you.
Each day races into moonlight.
My heart takes flight when you're in sight.
When you're close wild passions ignite.
Hot blood rushes greeting the view.
My heart takes flight when you're in sight.
In all the world there's only you.

"Triolet"

Mullein guillotined in the Hay Field

I objected to the appellation, common,
even more that being called a noxious weed.
No one said that of my cousin, cotton.
I objected to the appellation, common.
I prayed that those nasty words would soften.
I lie here, edible decongestant, and I bleed.
I objected to the appellation, common,
even more than being called a noxious weed.
