Indar - yes, protest songs... they are so a large part of my youthful life, and even now - perhaps even as needed now.

Hope you liked the lullaby as well....

Maybe I'll post a love song next... or maybe another protest song... or.........

Ok - guess it's a love song this time..........

A Summer's Morn

She takes my hand
   as only she can.
Her touch so warm
   like a summer's morn.

There by my side
   she becomes my guide.
I close my eyes
   the outside world dies.

     She keeps me safe
     helps me stay strong.
My life's becoming a Love Song.

She dries my tears
   laughs at my jokes.
She knows my fears
   fills me with hope.

     She keeps me safe
     helps me stay strong.
Wrapping me in a Love Song.

Uses words that soothe
   calms me with her truth.
She's always there
   keeps me in her care.

     She keeps me safe
     helps me stay strong
     I'm living a Love Song.

She takes my hand
   as only she can.
Her touch so warm
   like a summer's morn.

Ya, it's been a while... so here's another song from the protest genre........

...And here are the lyrics - as always, some liberties are taken when it is sung:

A Dark Day Is Dawning

Look around, America
the times are a changin'
hate and fear stoked
a dark day is dawning

Take care all you children
every woman and man
an ill wind is blowing
across this fair land

There are alternate facts
don't be confused by truth
many followed the lies
into the voting booth

Ego spawned reality
from our Toddler-in-Chief
and still no tax returns
fuel the disbelief

Slam the door on the helpless
build walls out of fear
the Lady of the Harbor
can't hold back her tears

Anger instead of warmth
hate replaces of hope
no justice for all
will they bring back the rope?

The health of the women
the care of the young
all starting to unravel
all that's been won

Look around, America
an ill wind is blowing
the times are a changin'
a dark day is dawning

Guess it has been a while since I posted a song.  This one was written June 2016, recorded Feb. 2018.  Based on real events.

Lyrics below.  As always, singer/songwriter license when recording.

Enjoy !!!

Aj

Written In The Snow

Not quite how we planned it
Forces we didn't know
Changes in the Summer
Of plans written in the snow

Sometimes it's easy
Sometimes it's hard
Sometimes a curve ball
Can catch us of guard

Need to catch our breath
As we take it on the chin
Have to roll with the punches
Never give in

Didn't turn out
The way that we thought

The plans that we made
To spend time together
Changed in a heartbeat
Like New England weather

Plans written
In the snow

It was the week that wasn't
Filled with sadness and fear
Helpless and downhearted
Wanting you near

Somethings are easy
Somethings are hard
Somethings turn you 'round
Spin us off guard

Working thru the changes
Engulfing our sphere
Tentative plans for later
Tomorrow still unclear

Plans written
In the snow

Need to catch our breath
As we get slammed in the chest
Need to heal the heartache
Soothe your aching breast

Didn't turn out
The way that we thought

Plans written
In the snow

Well, it's been a long time since I posted a song on this thread.  I stumbled onto this one, "The Carefree Life", this morning and thought another protest/social commentary song might be in order.

I wrote and recorded this about two years ago, and always with much singer/lyricist license.

Enjoy !!!!

The Carefree Life

Say what you want to say
Do what you want to do
Stay where you want to stay
Show what you want to show

   Living a carefree life
   Going with the flow

You don't want to hear about
Someone elses plight
They should just suck it up
Ain't noway it's your fight

   Living a carefree life
   Going with the flow

Concern for your fellow man
Is not in your pervue
You got yours, that's where it's at
It's all about you

   Living the carefree life
   It's all about you

Spend a day in their mocassins
You might just get a clue
But you won't upset your applecart
Cause hey, it's all about you

   Living the carefree life
   It's all about you

Hey Andrew - I clicked on your link and came to some wonderful music and singing by Miyano Mamoru... thanks for that !!!

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin is truly a great tune, and his unique singing style makes it even better.  Early this year I did a fast recording of it just for quick fun, for a good friend in need of cheering.  So, with due apologies for the poor guitar, singing and recording, below is a link to it.

Enjoy.
