Day 22
On Brooke's 18th
And it came to pass
that the young are born
and the old get older
life in between is filled and fast.
The best years, those-
live learn love
wrapped in much invincibility
immortality
tempered by touches of insecurity
fragility.
When times are easy and bright
when times are tough and dark
in all times
your family is always here
always arms opened wide
welcoming you inside
no judgments
only unconditional love.
And someday if the stars align
you'll have children of your own.
But for now
today here's my wish
my admonition
my counsel
for you
Pépère's sweet girl:
Follow your Heart
Listen closely
It will never lead you astray
Journey hand in hand with your Muse
You are an artist
And your life a canvas
Use your paints and brushes
Color outside the lines
There are no limits
But the limitations
You place on yourself
Spread your wings and fly
Soar!
And it came to pass
Ahh, the words, the honesty. This is special Aj... Outstanding writing everyone.. I am humbled, truly..

Forsaken
“How dare you doubt me!”
Says the liar to authenticity
with malignant deceit
and merciless half-truths.
A devoted heart abandoned,
seared is scarred forever.
Confidence, once eclipsed
is never left unguarded.
Survivors break chains of doubt
wings unclipped; they fly unfettered
in search of possibilities
for a nest in which to molt.
But for those whose pain lingers
internal vital organs bleed out trust
leaving hopes and dreams
to languish like road kill.

Deb - "Forsaken" is a study in anguish, despairingly painful... and written with such sensitivity. beautiful.....

Lisaeagle - "Old Pictures" is lovely and so personal, tenderly written. "the memory is weak and far away" speaks so clearly of the passage of time, as does "years have faded the memory like pages left in the sun", such a perfect phrase.

And now, for the final installment of "the jay and the doves" trilogy... good thing Tracy is away, given his admonition about the dreaded limerick......
Day 23
Doves
six Doves were under White Cedars
peaceful their lunch spilled from Seeders
mighty Sir Blue Jay
denied his Entrée
meek strength inherits the Feeders

Deb, the words "a devoted heart . . . seared is scarred forever" are so achingly true that I had to pause to catch my breath. Von

Day 23
Soggy earth springs back
as I saunter among buds
of tightly furled ferns.
Marshland lies posed to break forth
into gay, riotous bloom.

Sky Creatures
We are a particular group of humans,
those of us who dream of flying.
Our methods vary, some flap arms,
others ascend by force of will.
In real life we love mountains--
the ones with a view
all the way to the ocean,
we stand on the edges of canyons
and never miss a roadside look-out.
Some analysts say
such dreams and callings mean
an inflated sense of self importance--
what do they know?
I hold that either we were birds
in previous incarnations
or
we know where we're going.
