Absolutely no need to apologise Deb, this is a really excellent poem.
I enjoyed the read very much.

Thank you, Colm. You are kind to say so.

Your poems are crushing it though. I love, among other lines of yours,
 "...
   the absolute joy
   of being
   unaware."

So much freedom in it.

Day 11

Crocus

A bit of yellow and green
peers up thru garden debris
warm sun in sight
flashes middle leaf salute
to honor
stubburnly departing white stuff

Crocus color partners with snowdrops
a herald of winter's retreat
garden crier silent broadcast
rebirth
beauty
hope
in the air

Solar spin cycle dependable
fecundity refueled
let the birds and the bees have at it

Deb, a whole poem pondering the 'I know the road' syndrome.  I liked it.

I believe a road with a deadly reputation becomes a challenge to some folks.  It presses a button, conscious or subconscious. The more often they get away with it the more convinced they become of their own invincibility.

4/11 poem

Dropping the First Shoe

Don't worry,
she says, almost
in-confidence,

I'll be back
before you realize
I'm really gone

When I worked a rural postal delivery there was one little patch of roadside crocus which always fought through before everything else.  It even beat the snowdrops.

One year it was there in January as I cycled by, and I thought it must be a bit of a sweet wrapper at first.  Everything else was still dank and gloomy, but that little flash of sunlight lifted my spirits.  A few days later we had snow and the temperature plummeted, but it fought its way through.

I think I would have cheerfully flattened anyone who damaged it ;-)

Binx - Vagabonds touches to the quick. all too true.

Vaugh - Your two stanzas and Binx's Vagabonds captures all of Developmental Psychology.

Aime - Descriptive language that threatens me. I'd also rather shovel snow and the barn.

Indar - the phrase "rice paper screens" educed an long pause to take in the image.

Tracy - So where is you poem for 11.

Triolet 11

Hear ye! Hear ye! O body of Christ.
Chew not the Body of Jesus.
It's not about eating rice.
Hear ye! Hear Ye! O body of Christ.
Nothing about this is nice.
We are the Body of Christ.
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! O body of Christ.
Chew not the body of Jesus.

I discovered last Easter that the Methodists offer a gluten-fee option! Now there's a poem-starter. :D

Love this, Marcel.

Deb - The winter drive in Montana you describe is so familiar to me- west central Mn. The road-side crosses set the tone. The difference between a cross and a crucifix? -- the presence of a body. Somber stuff, you presented well. I drove this for 36 years:
