4/8 poem

the Modern Narcissist

It’s worse than meth
but no one talks about it—
uncomfortable, you know, especially
when you’re a big shot, hot potato
with twelve hundred Friends.
Just so you know, I never expect to hear
from anyone, who wants expectations, anyway—
hoping but not believing, not believing these days
in nothing.

Remain clean & independent because you know
how easy it is to get co-dependent & dirty—
one love
of a Like and you’re hooked.

Triolet 8

You have slowed my furtive step.
You have gifted me a pause.
Perhaps time to be adept.
You have slowed my furtive step.
You stand with me when I weep.
I am wrapped in your sweet gauze.
You have slowed my furtive step.
You have gifted me a pause.

Day 8

Posted in recognition of the winter snows of today, April 8th...........

March Mud...

Sparkling bright sunny day
Snow and ice glisten away
Yet the breeze thru barren trees
Sings an icy Spring tease

March Mud may peek and lurk
Around high sun and smirk
With smug conviction that soon
Muck will usher in June

But Winter clutches tight
Quite prepared to stay and fight
Adds another coat of white
A prickly sheet of spite

For now the wind sounds cold
Thru naked branches like a scold
Winter won't play April Fool
Mud must chill and be cool

George - like it -- I share some of the sentiments. :)

Marcel - it occurs to me that you may be writing a Triolets Chapbook ? :) :)

AJ -- "March Mud" -- So lyrical! The rhythms and sounds make this so fun to read aloud. I expect you could set it to tune with some serious affect.

Cheers.

Wow, Tracy - like stream of consciousness intricately and purposefully interwoven............

Ya, nowadays composing music comes fairly easily to me... I often wonder when I write:  does the poem inform the music, or the music inform the poem.  Tightly connected, I think.
I've written many many songs, recorded some... but your comment - makes me think about a possible Poetry Month album... not that there's anything else that needs doing.........
