30 ways to die.
#8

Don't fear dying
or danger,
all we enjoy now, came, courtesy
of countless injuries and deaths.
Sacrifices connect us, if
we join the dots.

The Sun doesn't revolve
around our axes.

Previous stars gave birth
to our seeds.
Our star condensed us
and in time
will send us broken,
maybe to seed new people
who'll wear our atoms
believe they're fresh off the peg
as we did,
and will probably discover, too late
as we did,
that we'll always be squabbling children
destroyers of worlds
looking for new Gods
in ever expanding infinities

eternally blind to our connections!

While we are on the same page Colm let me say I have read all your poems with growing amazement that you can reach so deep every single time. I know I've told you before that I wrote my thesis on death and concluded that the only way to say anything meaningful about it (other than the science) is through the language of poetry. Loving this. And thank you for your kind comments.

Tracy your poems aren't so easy to discuss in toto. I plan to go through and choose some favorites among all these poems to comment on them. Good thing we are not expected to critique I can only find raves.

You are living up to the expectations of those of us who have read your work over the years--as colm would say--fab.

The Bank Shot

She weaves her walk
Through perfectly lined pool tables.
Short, tight, shorts
Black spikes
Push-up bra
Low-cut shirt.
A Vogue hairdo frames
Penthouse makeup.

She keeps her eyes fixed
On the men.
The regulars, the after workers, the bored.
She finishes her turn and sips a Bud.
The men watch and smile
She pretends she doesn't notice.
Aims at nine, misses
And sips again.
She walks around the table
More than she needs to
Finds a stretching shot
Scratches on the eight ball
And throws her head back to laugh.

I feel sorry
Because she's only nineteen
And can't shoot pool.

Sphere in Winter, Indar - Yes - many hive succumbed to that fate this harsh winter... so tenderly written, much pain shared..........
And Colm - yes, yes, yes - stardust is all there is
Lisaeagle - what a painting your words paint

CRANBERRY GLASS

Spring blooms perfume a curb,
decanted in gutter water.

Something pink and wilting
cures without a stopper.

No one going to the estate sale
seems to notice
the earthworm’s damp dilemma,
caught as it is
between a leaf and a half-sucked
mint,
spit out by an eager buyer.

There’s a mailbox in the shape of a snail,
its silver numbers trailing,
and a bird feeder someone forgot to tag,
wire chairs
grouped for conversation.

Quilts

that haven’t seen the light of day in years
are surprised to find themselves

outside.

An old round mirror
propped by a post
is having the time of its life -

It believes it’s a puddle in a frame.
It believes it holds a piece of sky.
