Poetic Genius

Billy Collins does not keep
a gun in his house
lest he shoot John Yamrus' dog

who barks
at
the
neighbors,
the
UPS
man,
the vacuum
cleaner,
dust mop,
broom.

Billy Collins tries to distract himself
with a Beethoven symphony turned up full blast,
the 1812 I think--what a racket,
yap yap yap yap boom yap yap…
