Day 19: There was a Time

There was a Time
#deepadation
4/19/2019

There was a time
homeless waiting
for a bus under a
sagging concrete
bridge near midnight
LA hip restaurants
casting a hungry
shadow across
night’s amplified
loneliness we knew
home never would
be again

There was a time
we shot forth
into an oxygen
rich atmosphere
wailing as we fell
certain in this
world of external
eaters comfort
would never
be again

There was a time
a few minutes
ago I was certain
words had left me
as I comfortably
cleaned our kitchen
remembered we never
stopped falling and
home always will
be again.

Doc - when I read your poetry I'm reminded that your craft, and others in this forum, is beyond my simple brain capacity to create.  What you are able say in ways usually new to me is awesome, inspiring.  Being exposed to such writing broadens my thinking, hopefully inspiring my writing... we'll see.  This songwriter has a lot to learn.

I wish I had had more time to savor these as they were unfolding.
This is a special poem.  It evokes special feelings.
