Indar and Tracy:

Am I eavesdropping on a private conversation? Does your individual muse channel your descriptive language through the  quills? Marcel

Marcel we are debating which is best, goose or turkey vulture feathers. By all means, join in. I know that, as a man of letters, you will side with me. (goose)

It's too late to mention any individual poems at this stage...but I will make more of an effort from now on.
Just wanted to give my applause to everyone for their skill and stamina.
One fifth of the way there...keep it up.

Yes Marcel, it is the quills. You can spot poems of mine written with quills from turkey buzzard wings, and distinguish them easily from those pigeon and sparrow quill poems of which Indar has grown so fond. Don't tell her that, though. :D

Spot is right: those buzzard feathers split and sputter ink all over the place. Cutting a sparrow feather takes the steady but delicate hand of a highly sensitive person.

I might add that leaving the "feathery" part on is not classy--especially when it goes up yer nose whilst yer writing.

The longest word

keeps heavenly gates

shut

on days of reckoning

ends

some marriages before they start

echoes

across battle fields

or the Houses of Parliament

leaves

the homeless hungry

and a child

suspended

in a learning curve.

I wish there was a "Like" button here.  I'm trying to read the poems I'm encountering in this 30 day quest but there is only so much time and responding within a thread is a little awkward unless you follow right behind the poem you have read.  So much good poetry out here.

 April 6

Rosy Buttons

The ethereal bloom on her cheeks,
rosy buttons only babies can wear,
jiggles when she laughs.
                            ~~jvg

Two different challenges:
24 syllable challenge with prompt: ethereal
and prompt: bloom

There is always so much behind the words you choose.
And yes, it is hard to keep up.

Next year everyone will have their own thread -- I promise. :)

Indar - Two mothers, wow. So reminiscent for me of my own mother's last week. Such evocative writing.
I tear up.
