Re: National Poetry Month Celebration 2019 - Post Poems Here!
Today, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 is International Walking Day. I wrote this poem to open my blog for today. But it works for my April 3 Poem a Day commitment too.
Wednesday Walk
The trail is wet
from yesterday's rain.
The earth soft under my Sneaks.
I place one foot after another
and will myself on.
I will repeat this,
I will honor this substance,
I will write of this,
I will apply this to all things,
I will.

Judi - I just got back from a 4 mile hike, log on and see your poem. Nice take off on "I will...". Is your blog easily findable?

Indar, George, Gyppo - you magicians are writing faster than I can digest, but I am loving the ride.
Cheers.

My left leg is the longer one.
Accepts the fullest weight
while my right side hangs
a little over the surface.
The world always seems
to be dipping away from me
out to an invisible edge,
that mystic relic from before science.

Day 3
Dance
Piled and shoved
Stacked and scattered
Man made massif
Awaits resolution
Solo sashaying
The prance of avoidance
Til the call of the cotillion
The draw to the ball
Entices reluctant partners
With domestic resolve
To dance the dirty
Dish Dance

Entices reluctant partners

Forsynthia
Forsynthia,
in her golden-yellow dress,
awaits Spring's first carress.

Vaughn - you are developing an intentional series? Is this a recognized form you are following? these are wonderful, especially the last one.
And I mentioned I have poem which your #1 brought to mind? Forgetful me - it's been circulated for critique next time. I am losing my mind, I think sometimes, but then other times I don't think.
Cheers.

Dave - your #3 is so heartwarming, in a non-OTT way. Cheers. I think we have something special going here.

30 ways to die.
#4
His house, recently renovated,
old appliances replaced.
Financial details condensed
in neat accessible files,
his will renewed, and maybe
a few letters written, words
careful and specific
to be read post-mortem
for his children.
He even bought his own plot.
Affairs in order
it was just a matter of when.
Well liked by all, including
the many people he employed...
the people who found him.
It finished with a rope
tied to a forklift
a noose around his neck
an accelerated car
a horizontal hanging.

Kirlian
I do not know what it is to be left. To be the one
sleeping beside ghosts, to be soil, socket. I've been
the other-- the one who left for cigarettes.
Like a wall of herring flashing silver,
I flick away if you come too close. But you, unwilling,
are plate and capture both, holding my corona:
sharp, magenta, streaming.
