Summers Future – Poems of Presentiment / Expectancy

Post by Tom » Fri Aug 10, 2018 7:09 pm

Summers Future – Poems of Presentiment / Expectancy

This thread also calls for new poems, written anew for this occasion – for this thread.

Write a poem inspired by thoughts of summer future – what do you foresee, where does summer magic lead you?  What are the anticipations.

Again,  20 - 200 words, any style & format.

One more Summer

Post by Colm Roe » Mon Aug 13, 2018 7:17 pm

My vintage suggests fewer Summers,
more behind than ahead.
Yes, there'll be fewer cold seasons too, but
I swell more to each, now gifted chance
to sense, while I can.

To remove the extra layers
of Winter's heavy impose
and escape
to one more Summer.

Left a bottle
Red wine
Right a glass
The horizon poised on a flame

Anticipation runs a fine thread
Through the evening
Like a kestral waiting
For a wind current.

I have time

Autumn & Spring
are transitional.
Yet,
beautiful alone.

Summer & Winter
are absolute.
But,
stark with purpose.

Anticipation resounds,
And so does going slowly.

Bring back the Spanish Empire

Post by Colm Roe » Fri Aug 17, 2018 7:52 pm

A drought is a good excuse
to down an extra draught.
Why not drout and draft?
I don't go fishing for trought
while floating on a raught.
Spaniards
would call themselves Spanyards,
they do it right, rite, fone-et-ic-ally.
I'll bow, bough, baugh before them
akcept their, ther, der awtority
if they decide to empire again, agen.
Adiós...
or is it adiose?
