It's a big table
Ingredients on the table
acidic, neutral and alkaline,
their colours and textures
suggest combinations.
Red is strong,
glorious on its own, but
always better
when tempered
softened, enhanced
by cream or a pleasant sauce,
Thai maybe, but
definitely not Chinese.
Be careful where you cut
what you remove, what you leave,
even small elements
can ruin a dish.
Leaving some things out
isn't a crime.
The biggest mistake made
is always the ingredient
left simmering too long,
especially the one
that shouldn't have been
Putin.

Hi Colm
That title is always a hook (for me), but then so is food. Of course, parallels can be drawn. There is a moderation, mixing, that could be applied to life. Take care with food, its diversity, take care with life. Either way, I like the appreciation of craft and humour. Not too much, not too little.
Enjoyed

Like a great dish this poem has layers of interest. Food art is always satisfying and this poem is layered with some
appetizing side dishes. Time to ditch 'putin' from the pantry!
