Certainty

Certainty has no hold
unreliable and elusive
no friend in confusion
a large part of this life
of that I am certain.

It certainly is uncertain.
However, lawyers make millions from it...that's a certainty!
Both parties enter court certain they're right :)
Thanks for reminding us how silly we can be.

As Voltaire said : "Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one."

Hi Snowing,

I think being much more specific would help this poem a lot. Go into certain aspects of life that you're thinking of. Give examples. Tease out your thought process.

For me, the ending is just a bit too cheesy, though if the poem was set up as cheesy/ironic overall, the ending might work in that context.

Thanks for sharing, and I hope I've given some helpful insight.

Hello Snowing

I like your play on the word certainty/certain, which seems to come around and bite you at the end.

I think you're nonetheless making a serious point about the loyalty of friends. It would be more effective if you used expressions we've never heard before, and built a context we could visualize.

Thanks for sharing this
