Business Mogul Frog King
Princesses lined up
believing in the power
of the kiss to marry them
to a potential prince
but alas, the frog was hollow.
The vacuum at the center
sucked them in
along with minion
sycophants under their
own belief in ever-after
if they pucker up
and kiss the frog king's ass.

Good writing and timely commentary, Indie. The hidden schism of the isms is a mass crevasse for weak humanity trudging toward the edge of a bleak reality.

My fairy tale revisionist project started out as a lighthearted way to choose subjects for NaPo but the more I looked at Grimms Bros collection and how, in some cases the way they have been reinterpreted by Disney et.al., I began to think some of the themes have influenced a lot of our attitudes. (some day my prince will come etc.).

I have a copy of this book from the original printing, MacMillon 1919. It is a version of Cinderella but the girl meets the prince on several occasions. He reviles her as a peasant until he sees her true status and is charmed by her. She reminds him that he has met her in the past and recounts how he acted toward her--she rejects him. The author was Irish but I wonder if his rendition was influence by women suffrage in the US at about that time. Or maybe that movement went beyond the US. I've had the book for years and been curious about how many other stories have undergone many revisions in the same way.
If I was more ambitious I would research these histories and revise in more thoughtful ways. Or I could try to talk someone else into doing it.
My great-granddaughter is almost 5. When she is old enough I'll pass the book onto her. Her mom teaches contemporary ballet:

Yes I know. My grandson was on track to get a degree in fine arts photography but he dropped out when he realized there was no future in it. But the good news is there's a million great family photos. Thanks Mark

Nice end. I'd like more imagery; what'd prince looked like, etc.
