Our mirrors hang where they're placed,
obedient, and yet
these slabs of glass and silver
possess magical properties.
There should be instructions.
Their reflections defy logic, and
their power, good or bad
cannot be measured.

Who starved or nurtured you.
Who can you blame
for the scars you hide
or show,
for the pills you could have taken
or should have.

Who hid the mirror from you.
The one that would have told you
exactly what you were then, then
pressing it even closer
to your cruel face,
you might have seen
what you were becoming.

Before you became it.

This is powerful. I am on my way to the "senior hour" at the grocery store   I'll be revisiting this one more than once.

I have an idea for a story/play and this will be the opening.
It's about an evil, selfish man who dies but is trapped... isn't allowed to move on. I might try to condense it.

Are some people evil? Keep us up on your progress with the play. Have you written a script before? I'll be so interested to hear how it goes and what you conclude. The Play JB is fantastic, I've only heard it performed on radio.[/font]

I enjoyed this. Interesting that the question mark appears in the title but then not in the poem's questions, as if they've become so rhetorical that the invitation to respond has be revoked.

Glad you liked it Wren.
I'm not sure if that was a conscious decision. I know rhetorical questions don't necessarily require question marks, I also find them aesthetically unpleasing; especially if there are several questions
