A merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone else perched on our Tangled Branch.

Before reading this may I ask you to listen to this old song by Melanie, to give a little context. I must admit, despite my empathy for the 'walking wounded', I have never truly understood people who seem to revel in the fact they are constantly 'in therapy'. Life should be enough therapy for nearly everyone. I don't need a padded couch, or an expensive soothing voice.
A walk in the woods, a quiet beach, or a small stream with a few flickering fishes. A night sky filled with stars or spectacular moonlit clouds. That's my kind of therapy.

Dancing With My Demons
Sometimes, but not too often,
I unlock the private cupboard
and let them out.
I dance with my demons,
on my own terms.
Sometimes hugging them close
in a slow and melancholy waltz.
But more often in a spirited Morris,
feet stamping, bells jangling
sticks rattling in ritual combat.
But never waving the white hanky
in case they see it as surrender.
