Hi My Name is Greg

Post by skylightgreg » Mon Nov 06, 2023 12:41 pm

I'm brand new to Tangled Branch. My friend, Indar, invited me a month ago, but I was entangled in other projects then. You guys come highly recommended by Indar, so I'm really excited to be here.

I have spent most of my life working as a musician and producer of small performance pieces for kids and adults. In that capacity, I have written many songs. However, I'm brand new to the world of poetry.  For the last several months, I have been writing poems on a regular basis, so hopefully I am fairly well warmed up. We will see. lol.

I"m from the South, so as you would expect, I tend to be a warm and friendly person.  You'll find sunshine here along with temperate April rains.

cheers everyone.  let's have fun!

Welcome Greg-- what a wonderful introduction.  Glad you found the site.

There are large differences between poems and song lyrics.  But both require a curiosity for and deftness with words and how to build with them.  A good ear is also valuable to both.
Can't wait to see your work.

Let me know if you have questions.

BTW -- That Indar has brought you is high credentials here, but don't tell her I said that.  :D

Cheers.

Welcome, Greg.
The crossover possibilities between poetry and song lyrics are interesting. I have an effort in that regard that I''ll dig out for the hell of it.
