Heard posting poems online, even on social media, bars them from some publications since they're 'published' online.
Is that true of forums like this one?

Posting poems online
Re: Posting poems online
Depends on the editor, publication guidelines, I've only been chased up once to remove a post from a forum.
Re: Posting poems online
Good to know, thanks!

The bottom line here is that their magazine or forum is their playground, so they set the rules. If you want to play there...
It's a bit like 'house rules'. You can say things in an Uncle's or Aunt's house that you wouldn't think of saying to your parents. Sometimes these rules can be strange and arbitrary.

I've been writing ever since I realised I could. Storytelling since I started talking. Poetry however comes and goes

Hm. I'd say no. You'll get a rep. It's hard to transition from the instant gratification of posting in social media to holding work back for journals. But if you want to be in the journals, it's one of the transitions you have to make. I had everything, I mean everything, on a blog and that was work to remove. Then I had to wait for the search histories to forget it all. Never again!
