Re: Summers Future – Poems of Presentiment / Expectancy

The skies rise way out beyond blue into an infinity of heat
or close in behind an iron veil of rain descending
like god's wrath ( I can see his wicked smile)
The boat we push out to sea, naive sailors we,
is engulfed with the sin of frivolity (coloured straws)
and wonder where it all went wrong.

Re: Tangerine Sky (with apologies to Kottonmouth Kings)

ANother one whose references escaped me but which I enjoyed just for what it is. The message is so loud and clear.

Re: A Big Boogah Fell Out My Knows

I like this but have no idea why. It references things that have never featured in my life but does so with a lightness of foot and an ease that makes it strangely compelling.

Re: When the white paneled door opens

Thanks Indar and Colm. This is one of those that started out quite differently and then took a life of its own. I won't comment on interpretations for that reason as that seems to be to be unjustified. I don't want to claim any specific message for this one.

When the white paneled door opens (versions 1&2)

Alternative version (for the fun of it) darkness slips through a smoke ring yellow glow of home. Mother unties   her care worn apron and joins the birds of dusk, the martins and swifts of her childhood summers, swallowed by time. Original outside ceases its outsideness, darkness enters like a smoke...

Re: End of Days

Hey Tracy That first stabza is pretty audacious stuff if I may so - dramatic and a full force start. The second paragraph loses the momentum a bit but fills in the details and brings events up to date. I am a bit concerned by the following line: our days written as pages in pulp mills - surely nothi...

Re: End of Days

This may take time to work through, I hope there is time before the books finally burn.

the book of love

I have lied. More than once. It is a character flaw, you say .   Call it education, or art , I reply. The first time it was a necessity, these days a creative process .   The ice in your whiskey melts, becomes an off- colour skin. You remain aloof from the inevitability of dissolution. Call it hope....

Re: Spittlebugs

Thanks Indar - perhaps harsher than meant - maybe a result of the edit from the NAPO version.
Thanks Colm  for the comment of the typo - so obvious and so silly.
