NAPO 3 - 2019 Courtesy . Walking through town yesterday, in my own world and with no need to rush, I paused. Letting two hurrying ladies cross my path. One, in her own world, never even noticed me. The other, a surprised hitch in her stride, smiled and thanked me. Chivalry isn't yet dead, and n...

NAPO 2 - 2019 Should I have kept quiet? (A mother's dilemma.) I only did as I was told, but... Would he have been happier working with his hands? He was a true craftsman, no doubt about that. His mortise and tenon joints were rock solid, like his trust in his mother's words. Should I have grounded ...

Re: My Muse Passed Out
Generally speaking they do. Muses don't believe in Writer's Block, but they will gleefully use the opportunity to skive off for a while if the writer believes in it. I think mine is probably happiest when she's wearing overalls, with her sleeves rolled up and her hair tied back out of the way, or ...

Just ask nicely, or spoil them them with chocolates or flowers. Make them feel appreciated. I don't believe they can be forced.

NAPO 1 - 2019 Coins in my pocket . For the first time in ages I have coins, jingling in my pockets. Rubbing shoulders with my keys. A year of using my debit card, appreciating the simplicity, but never feeling quite complete. They won't buy much, just enough for a fish and chip supper, and maybe a c...

Or, alternatively, just wing it. Trust your muse to do her/his job and trust life around you to provide prompts. Ride the fiery and unbroken mount of inspiration bareback. I know this doesn't work for everyone. But if careful planning isn't delivering the goods then you'll lose nothing by t...

Like it a lot, Tom. They can be a little wayward. Mine was missing for while, but came running and shouted in my ear when she miss-heard or wilfully misunderstood a reference to Whirled Poetry Day . Right now she's carb-loading on bacon sarnies and cake ready for the long slog. Not sure what she'...

Ye gods, at least three of those Serbian women look just like my nephew's Serbian wife. Obviously as a race they 'breed true to type'. ===== Re quill pens; the English poet, John Clare, 1793 - 1864 obviously suffered from the still common superstitious fallacy that having the best equipment would ...
