Re: National Poetry Month Celebration 2019 - Post Poems Here!

Iridology In dreams, she says. In song or other art, inescapable. It's everywhere, the moon. It's in my gaze. She pulls on a dainty rose gold vape, the sweet cloud hangs nearby like an indifferent spirit. Moon, round and dumb, or slivered thin as almonds. What can it mean. She tells me of her cycle,...

Re: National Poetry Month Celebration 2019 - Post Poems Here!

Missed a day yesterday, darn it, unavoidable rl concerns. If I can, I'll try to put up two today, as I really wanted to complete the challenge this year! One star review After you take your tour in Hades laundry is important. Daily wear, bedclothes smell of char, skin still pink and weeping. Give it...

Re: National Poetry Month Celebration 2019 - Post Poems Here!

There are so many wonderful poems here already! I'm sorry everyone, I'm so remiss in commenting, but I have been enjoying to be sure! There's a sour revelation like turned milk when you realize you've written the same poem for years without intent just like the night you drove to Farmington on autop...

Re: National Poetry Month Celebration 2019 - Post Poems Here!

Kirlian I do not know what it is to be left. To be the one sleeping beside ghosts, to be soil, socket. I've been the other-- the one who left for cigarettes. Like a wall of herring flashing silver, I flick away if you come too close. But you, unwilling, are plate and capture both, holding my corona:...

Re: National Poetry Month Celebration 2019 - Post Poems Here!

Death of a Former Lover I dress up today, I don't know why. I want to wear the Red Dress, but it's long gone and besides it's not appropriate for funerals. I sit toward the back. I see your widow, as if all color has been drained from her, gray-scaled, limp. See your sons, their broad straight backs...

Re: National Poetry Month Celebration 2019 - Post Poems Here!

Messages .......... I wonder about the rain on my roof, its tension and release at once, those particular drops in that particular order. And the wind, how it must carry something - a kiss or a song, the steam of someone’s herbal tea, perhaps the scent of a woman’s hair or the stench of a vagrant. ...

Re: #2

I love this one, Colm, its tone perfect for the subject, the sonics and syllables lending themselves well to the clipped, frustrated voice. The death of truth.

30 ways indeed! Bring them on :)

layer upon layer, striated
strength, sediment -- you'll lie
in patient splendor like the rest of us.

Yes, time is a healer.  Even if memory persists.

Exactly, John. I wrote with my sister in mind, who is going through some difficult times. But it's true of all of us
