Re: What to Expect

First...  Turn up . It's worth remembering every poem ever written or recited 'on the fly' without the intermediate stage of paper or screen, was created by someone who turned up .  If you're not there, if you're reluctant to pick up pen of finger the keyboard, or create palaces of words in your hea...

Re: Chat Room, Eatery and Harpsichord Lounge

Ah, we have a harpsichord lounge this year ;-)  Here's a little something to kick it into life. Long before the famous Duelling Banjos from Deliverance there was duelling harpsichords from Handel and Scarlatti. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgwLkns0_8U For my shopworn ears I find harpsichord music...

Re: Naming of the parts (Ukulele version.)

Glad it made you smile.  It was triggered by a happy moment. I remember the military 'naming of the parts'.  There was a chap who used to hang around the folk clubs of my youth who used to perform it, very much in the role of a sergeant instructing raw recruits, as one of his party pieces. [1] The o...

Naming of the parts (Ukulele version.)

Naming of the parts. My Grandaughter challenged me, "Name the parts of your Ukulele." So I did, from one end to the other. Head stock, tuning pegs, nut, neck, strings, frets." She nodded her approval. "Body, sound hole." I turned it over, tapped the underside, "Belly." "Didn't know that, Grandad. T...

Winter Solstice Greetings

Solstice Greetings     Tonight, 21st, is the longest night of the year.  When our little rotating rock ball we call home is the furthest it ever gets away from the Sun.     After this the days will start getting longer again.     It may not feel like it, but it will be happening.     Rejoice!  O...

Re: An experiment: Two 'spoken offerings' at this link

Mark, came out clear enough but a little quiet at this end,  even with my speakers  cranked up to full.

I always felt a bit sorry for Pluto too ;-)

Re: Roadside Attraction

Indar, That is bizarre,  Unfortunately the link came up with a message telling me it was blocked in my country. There was a 'spinning lady' in Cornwall who spun threads from almost anything.  the more difficult the challenge the more she loved it. Two of her customers showed afghan hounds in competi...

Re: An experiment: Two 'spoken offerings' at this link

Cheers, Colm.  The better microphone definitely helps.  As does the 'pop guard' to take the edge off some of the more 'plosive syllables.  I can sit back in my chair and just talk to it as if I have someone sat opposite. For anyone else thinking of trying it I can confirm that having a drink, water ...

Cheers, Mark.  I'm glad it worked for someone ;-)  I've no idea why some can't get it to play on their computer.

'Almost theatrical?'  That's my inner Storyteller at work.
