Re: Book of Covid

I'm at peace with the Darwin thing, that people who make bad choices may face consequences, even death. But I'm not at peace with the nature of the virus--that such people will also cause illness and death among people who followed the restrictions. I don't feel they should have the "freedom" to kil...

Re: Keep it to Yourself

You must feel like you're living through the Plagues of Egypt.  Exactly!!! I'm writing my thesis about Sense of Place and how we need to update it in the time of climate change. Then this happens. It makes my job WAY easier, giving future readers grounding in place (their own) and high-stakes si...

Re: Sunday Morning Grace

I particularly enjoyed the images here--cattails, blackbirds, worked stones. Thanks! I suspect your narrator slots in just fine...

Re: Who can you blame?

I enjoyed this. Interesting that the question mark appears in the title but then not in the poem's questions, as if they've become so rhetorical that the invitation to respond has be revoked.

Re: Keep it to Yourself

My first thought is that I want this on a t-shirt or sign in my yard. So spot on! Then I remember the truth of the title. Sigh. Thanks for expressing this!

Re: Posting poems online

Rules are meant to be broken, no?  ;) Hm. I'd say no. You'll get a rep. It's hard to transition from the instant gratification of posting in social media to holding work back for journals. But if you want to be in the journals, it's one of the transitions you have to make. I had everything, I mean ...

Re: Submission statregy?

I see this was posted in June but I'm just now seeing it. I do a lot of submitting. I would say submitting is less of a long shot than not submitting! Some of my ramblings on the topic: If you can learn when to trot out your ego (getting the nerve to submit) and when to tamp it down (from the time y...

Re:  Down the San Miguel River

Hi Tracy I am taken more by the sounds within the piece. The first stanza is dominated by f sounds and the second by all the s endings in the plurals. The plurals reinforce nicely the theme of origin and succession in the piece. Nevertheless, I felt the f sounds work better and the S sounds ome clo...

Re: Double locking. (A lighter moment.)

I see the disclaimer--(A lighter moment) but after reading this, I and curious to get the implied action. What happens if someone brings trouble? Presumably, someone did once, thus the father's reputation was earned. Or, what trouble is feared? What trouble knocks on neighboring doors? Will we get a...
